BRM Sponsors Going Green Night #2

2/16/2009

Business Records Management and Johnstown Chiefs

Provide Free Shredding Services to Promote Recycling

Johnstown, PA - Business Records Management (BRM), a leader in records and information management in Pennsylvania, will sponsor a Johnstown Chiefs hockey game to educate the public on the value of shredding and recycling.

Going Green Night #2 will be held on Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Chiefs’ 7:05 PM game against South Carolina at the War Memorial Arena, as a follow-up to Going Green Night #1 on January 3.  Prior to the game, fans may bring up to one box of paper documents per person to be destroyed free of charge.  All documents will be securely shredded and recycled, benefiting the environment and helping the community to go green.

BRM encourages Chiefs fans to bring obsolete personal records such as bank statements, credit card receipts, tax paperwork, bills and other statements.  Bonded BRM personnel will be in the Arena lobby to collect the records and to provide a Certificate of Destruction upon receipt, stating that the records will be destroyed.  The Certificate entitles the holder to enter a drawing for a Chiefs Prize Pack, containing a jersey, autographed stick and tour of the arena.  In addition, anyone who brings documents to the game can receive a free children’s ticket from the box office with the purchase of an adult ticket.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, each ton of recycled paper saves 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space and 4000 kilowatts of energy.  The average household throws away 13,000 separate pieces of paper each year.

“About 35 percent of municipal waste is paper, and recycling reduces pollution and energy consumption,” said BRM president Steven Wright.  “Shredding and recycling have the added effect of deterring identity theft, which is the fastest growing crime in America.  Our extensive document shredding experience and nationally recognized AAA-Certification make BRM the perfect partner for the Johnstown Chiefs at this event.”

The AAA-Certification from the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) represents the highest standards of security in the industry.  BRM is the only company in the Johnstown area that is AAA-Certified.

Business Records Management operates facilities in Johnstown, Pittsburgh and Erie.  BRM provides information management services to over 3,000 organizations throughout western Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and parts of Maryland and New York.  Services include Document Storage and Management, Secure Document Shredding, Disaster Recovery, Software Escrow, Backup Tape Storage and Rotation, Email Retention, Imaging and Records Management Consulting.
