Business Records Management to Offer Free
Shredding Services After the Tax Deadline
Pittsburgh, PA - Business Records Management (BRM), a leader in records and information management in Pennsylvania, has partnered with the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) and local Staples stores to offer free document shredding as a way to highlight the importance of the safe disposal of personal information.
Shredathon will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at two Staples locations – 999 Freeport Road in the Waterworks Mall, and 2515 Banksville Road in the South Hills. Members of the public may bring up to four boxes of paper records per person to be destroyed free of charge. BRM encourages people to bring obsolete personal records such as bank statements, credit card receipts, tax paperwork, bills and other statements. Shredding these documents can protect people and their families from identity theft, and all paper collected will be recycled to benefit the environment.
Prize drawings will be held during the event.
“Every minute, 28 people become victims of identity theft,” said BRM president Steven Wright. “Identity theft destroys people’s credit, insurance and Social Security benefits. Because of our extensive document destruction experience, BRM is committed to educating the public through special events such as Shredathon.”
Business Records Management operates facilities in Pittsburgh, Johnstown and Erie. BRM provides information management services to over 3,000 organizations throughout western Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and parts of Maryland and New York. Services include Document Storage and Management, Secure Document Shredding, Disaster Recovery, Software Escrow, Backup Tape Storage and Rotation, Email Retention, Imaging and Records Management Consulting.
